Life? Whew child. It’s a rollercoaster—the kind that snatches your edges, sends your shades flying, and has you hollering “Jesus take the wheel!” while trying not to spill your iced coffee. Change? Oh, she comes in flavors. Sometimes it’s as small as switching from lattes to matcha, and other times it feels like life went so fast you are upgrading your flip phone straight to the iPhone 27. And let’s be real—ain’t nobody living that flawless Instagram life. Filters, yes. Flawless? NOPE. We are all out here just doing the best we can with what we know today while tripping over ourselves, praying through tears, laughing out loud, crying in our closets, and getting back up again.
So how do we keep it together? One word: FAITH.
Hitting our 50s? Sis, that’s not a finish line—that’s a VIP wristband to a whole new concert. Maybe you’re a late-in-the-game mama juggling diapers with reading glasses in every room of the house. Or the entrepreneur whose office pep talks now include your plants, Alexa, and the Holy Spirit. Maybe you’re caring for parents who still call the internet “the Google.” Or stepping into a brand-new career that feels like you just walked onto the set of a reality show with no script. Maybe you’re a widow penning a brand-new chapter in life, a new retiree with a whole lot of time and no direction, a grandparent dropping wisdom like fairy dust, or newly married and still negotiating who loads the dishwasher without starting World War III.
Some of us are dealing with health challenges and feel stuck like that one shopping cart with the crazy wheel, or staring at a glass ceiling that looks thicker than church pound cake. But through it all—every loop, every dip, every “Lord, why me?” moment—faith stays ten toes down.
To my warrior princesses: perfect is overrated. Real, raw, faith-filled women? We’re the ones who rise.
Sis, let’s be real—life doesn’t always send out a calendar invite before it flips everything upside down. One minute you’re steady, and the next you’re like, “Lord, did I miss a memo?” But here’s the good news: you don’t have to face these plot twists empty-handed. In this space of Kiya's Closet, I’m sharing Closet Gems—little jewels of encouragement rooted in faith—to remind you that God’s got you covered through every twist, turn, and brand-new chapter.
Closet Gem: Finding Purpose
Change can make you feel like you lost your GPS. But faith reminds us God already mapped out the journey—He’s not surprised by the detours.
Journal your prayers to see how God is guiding you.
Ask Him to reveal your next assignment in this season.
Trust that purpose doesn’t disappear with change, it shifts with you.
Try this book: Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren (and read it with a prayer partner)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
Closet Gem: Building Resilience
Life will knock the wind out of you sometimes. Faith is the breath that helps you stand back up when you’d rather stay down.
Swap “Why me?” for “Lord, what are You building in me?”
Pray through the tired days—it’s spiritual fuel.
See setbacks as setups for God’s glory.
Ask for prayer from your prayer partner.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” — Isaiah 40:31
Closet Gem: Creating Community
We weren’t built to walk through change solo. Faith connects us to people who pour into us when our own cup feels empty.
Join a Bible study or women’s group.
Share your story—your testimony may unlock someone else’s healing.
Surround yourself with voices that point you back to God.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Closet Gem: Practical Faith Tips
Transitions can feel like pushing a shopping cart with that one crazy wheel—messy, wobbly, but still moving. Faith gives us balance along the way.
Set Small Goals: Break the big stuff down so it’s not overwhelming.
Practice Self-Care: Rest isn’t laziness—it’s obedience. Even Jesus pulled away to recharge.
Seek Support: God placed people in your life on purpose—lean on them.
Read Your Word Daily - It's like a reset button for your mind.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
Closet Gem: Laughing at the Days Ahead
Being a woman of faith doesn’t mean life stops being wild—it just means you’re never walking it alone. Faith is your anchor, your armor, and your joy.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25
So to all my warrior princesses: stop stressing about being perfect. Walk in faith, lean on God’s promises, and keep shining—because the future? Sis, it’s already handled.
