Comfy, Cute, and Confident—Finding My Style for Less (Come Thrift With Me)

This year, I’ve decided I want to know more about my style—not trends, not labels, not what the internet says I should wear—but what actually works for me.

I already know my lifestyle requires comfy, cute, and confident.

That part is clear. I am a Realtor, Travel Advisor, Content Creator and a Rheumatoid Arthritis Warrior so I need comfortable attire that is cute all the while shows me as the confident kingdom builder I am.

But now what I want to explore is how to express that more intentionally—through colors that light me up and silhouettes that feel like home on my body.

And I want to do it without spending a ton of money.

So… welcome to my new adventure: thrifting with intention. And yes—I want to do this with you ladies by my side.

Where This Idea Really Came From

Let me tell you where this really clicked for me.

When I was in Gibraltar, England, I walked into this beautiful boutique shop and saw the blazer. I literally made a Beeline directly to it. Something about it drew me in? Maybe the patches, maybe the pin stripe, maybe the oversized silhouette? As soon as the saleslady saw my facial expression she stopped what she was doing and came to help me try it on. She did her best in rolling up the sleeves for me, and popping the collar and walking me to the mirror; she could sense she had a sale. This blazer needed me, You know the kind—the kind that makes you stand up straighter the second you put it on. I fell in love immediately.

Then I checked the price tag.

Over £500?!?!

I clutched my pearls so hard I almost pulled a muscle.

A blazer? Over Five hundred pounds.

I looked at my mom after we both heard the saleslady repeat the amount I saw on the tag. She looked as she was watching me try it on with that look that said, I know you are not about to buy that. LOL And when we walked out of the store, we both burst out laughing because we had the exact same thought:

“You could make that.”

Was that blazer going to go to work on its own? Was it bringing home a paycheck? Was it folding laundry or answering emails?

No ma’am.

And that’s when it hit me—style isn’t about the price tag. It’s about the vision.

Why Thrifting Makes Sense for This Season

I want to explore my colors and silhouettes with curiosity, not pressure. Thrifting allows me to do that because:

  • I can experiment without guilt

  • I can try styles I’d never pay full price for

  • I can reimagine pieces instead of consuming more

  • I can build confidence through creativity, not cost

This isn’t about settling. It’s about discovering.

How I’m Planning to Do This (And You Can Too)

I want to make this fun, doable, and approachable. Not overwhelming. Not perfect. Just intentional.

Here’s how I’m starting:

1. Researching the Best Days to Thrift

Yes, apparently this matters! Some days have better restocks, fewer crowds, and even discount colors. I’ll be doing a little homework so I’m shopping smarter—not longer.

2. Finding Good Thrift Spots in Cobb County and surrounding areas in GA

I’ll be exploring local Goodwill's and thrift shops around Cobb County to see which ones fit my vibe. Some stores are better for blazers, others for denim, others for hidden gems—and I want to find our spots.

3. Joining Facebook Groups for Thrifting Ideas

Because listen—someone out there already figured this out. I’ll be joining local and style-focused Facebook groups to get tips, inspiration, and ideas. Community makes everything easier.

4. Reimagining What I Find

This is the fun part. Asking questions like:

  • Can I belt it?

  • Can I layer it?

  • Can I dress it up or down?

  • Can I add broaches or sew on patches or anything uniquely me?

I’m not looking for perfection on the rack—I’m looking for potential.

Why I Think This Will Work

I believe this approach will help me achieve the look I want because it’s:

  • Intentional instead of impulsive

  • Rooted in identity, not trends

  • Affordable and sustainable

  • Creative and confidence-building

And honestly? It brings joy back to shopping.

Come Along With Me

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only woman who wants to feel put together without overspending. Who wants to love what’s in her closet. Who wants style to feel supportive—not stressful.

This is an open invitation. I'll begin my research now so I'm ready when my fast in January is over. Then I'll start the leg work of going to the places I find during the research phase.

Come thrift with me in February. Come experiment with me. Come figure out what works for you—not the mannequin.

Because confidence isn’t something you buy. It’s something you build—one intentional choice at a time.

And if I can recreate a £500 blazer vibe for a fraction of the price? Do y'all know the conversion rate of British pound to the dollar? Even if it were 1:1 I still think I can do.

Well…and that just feels like a win for all of us!
