Styled by Grace: Discovering My Faith Through Fashion Around the World

There’s something powerful about stepping into a new country — the colors, the energy, the way people express themselves without saying a word. During my transatlantic cruise, as we strolled the cobblestone streets and explored boutiques in each port, I realized I wasn’t just sightseeing. I was soul-seeing.

I love to people watch especially sitting at a new cafe enjoying an Italian cappuccino. Watching what people were wearing became my lens for understanding culture, beauty, and ultimately — myself.

In Cartagena, the mall was massive — full of life, flavor, and color. I couldn’t get over how even the shopping experience felt like a reflection of the people: joyful, bold, and full of heart. That’s where we discovered a store called Punt Roma, with clothing that felt more “grown woman chic” than fast fashion — they were stylish, confident, and full of grace.

I walked through those racks unsure if anything was meant for me, until God whispered, “This isn’t about what fits your body — it’s about what fits your spirit.”

A few days later, in Santa Cruz, we found another Punt Roma. This one had an edge — same brand, new story. Then in the basement, surrounded by sale racks and hidden gems, I found myself thinking, isn’t that how life works?

Sometimes the most beautiful pieces — the ones meant for us — are tucked away in unexpected corners, waiting for the right timing.

That’s when I found something for Mommy and made her try it on. The moment she opened the dressing room curtain, her face lit up. I laughed and said, “See? Kiya’s Closet’s got you covered.” But deep down, I knew it wasn’t just about clothes — it was about confidence, joy, and divine timing.

Everywhere we went, I saw how women from different cultures styled themselves — effortlessly blending comfort, color, and confidence. No two looked alike, yet every one of them carried a spark. It reminded me that God is the ultimate designer — weaving together people, places, and patterns that reflect His creativity.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14

That verse came alive for me during this journey. Each woman I saw was her own light — shining through her choices, her walk, her wardrobe. And it made me think about how I show up in my own light.

For so long, my health challenges dimmed that light. Pain and fatigue made me forget how it felt to express myself. But travel — and seeing beauty in others — reminded me that fashion isn’t about vanity; it’s about vitality. It’s an outward reflection of the joy and strength God is restoring within.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” – Proverbs 31:25

That’s the woman I want to be. One who dresses not for approval, but from a place of assurance. Who sees God’s hand in every thread — from the jeans that make her feel powerful to the scarf that reminds her of a memory abroad.

So yes, this trip was about travel — but more than that, it was about transformation. Every outfit, every window display, every smile reminded me that style is universal, but grace is personal.

Fashion is how we celebrate the masterpiece God created in us. And when we embrace it — fully, fearlessly, faithfully — we’re not just dressing up; we’re showing up.

🦋 The Heart Behind the Hanger

Why fashion is more than fabric.

The butterfly in my logo means transformation, and the hanger symbolizes covering. During this trip, I realized how deeply those symbols mirrored my own journey — shedding old layers, healing from within, and learning to embrace beauty again. I'm the girl hugging my reflection.

Fashion, for me, isn’t about appearance; it’s about alignment.

It’s about wearing what reflects who God is shaping you to be — strong, radiant, renewed.

Living the Boutique Gospel

The Boutique Gospel isn’t about consumerism — it’s about connection. It’s seeing God’s fingerprints in color, fabric, and design. It’s remembering that even the act of choosing what to wear can be a sacred expression of gratitude for the body and spirit He’s blessed you with.

From window shopping in foreign streets to rediscovering confidence in my own closet, I learned that style — like faith — is deeply personal, but universally understood. We all want to feel seen, loved, and covered. And when we choose to clothe ourselves in grace, joy, and dignity, we’re preaching a quiet gospel — one outfit, one smile, one step at a time.

So, Sis, as you get dressed tomorrow, pause for a second.

Whisper a prayer.

Remember: you are God’s masterpiece — and The Boutique Gospel starts right where you are.

💭 Reflection: What’s one way you can express who God made you to be through your style today?
